-Lorin Maazel; Cleveland Orchestra, Stravinsky’s Le Sacre Du Printemps [Excerpt]-
Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” made it’s debut in Paris 100 years ago next week. Widely regarded as an enormously influential piece of music he was only in his 20’s when he composed it. Crank it up a bit..

Arnold Shoenberg, like many German Jewish artists (composers, filmakers, musicians) came to the Los Angeles area, specifically Hollywood to make their art after Hitler’s election to power. This letter (sorry for bad picture, it was a “no camera zone”) written by Otto Klemperer is well worth the “read”. Mr. Schoenberg did go on to teach at UCLA and USC where there are concert halls named after him.
